Mary, I have worked with her also. She is very legitimate and a good person to work with if you are within driving range of Maine.

  • Mary C. Ferrara

Thanks everyone, I'm in the Boston area but would drive to Maine.

  • Sonya Joyner

Mary, I worked with them. They were great!

Just when I was thinking that the filming season is over I get booked for a Music Video and a Health Network Commercial. I really love doing Music Videos.

  • Roxanne Y. Morse

    Hi All,

I'm back on New England Actors after letting my membership slip a couple of years ago.  A couple weeks ago, I was cast in an Emerson student film, just from my old portfolio!  This site is valuable!

  • Joell A. Jacob

Hi, I hope it's ok to ask here. Can anyone recommend an entertainment attorney to look over an agent's contract before I sign? Feel free to message me, although I believe this would be a beneficial answer to many. Thanks!

  • Mike McGonegal

    Joell,

Track down Rob Sciglimpaglia (http://www.voiceoverxtra.com/VOlegalScigBio.htm or http://ctworkerscompattorney.com/) and he can help you.  I don't know what his rates would be for doing something like this, but he's certainly one of the best in our neck of the woods.

  • Joell A. Jacob

Thanks Mike! Someone else just told me about him a minute ago! He must be THE guy! :)

MainFrame Pictures seeks actors for an upcoming short slated for production in the first week of January 2015 in Connecticut.

THE COBBLESTONE CORRIDOR is a tongue-in-cheek modern day film noir that takes place at an elite prep school. Seeking the following:

ELIZABETH MERRIWEATHER: 18+ to play 17. The femme fatale. Coveted, worldly and intoxicating. Stunningly beautiful.
LOGAN UNDERWOOD: 18+ to play 15. A freshman. Smart. Eager to make his mark on the school paper.
TODD WILSON: 18+ to play 18. A senior. Grounded. Doesn't take things too seriously.
JOHNNY BAKER: 18+ to play 17. Runs the underground counterfeit test ring. Takes his work very seriously. Like Hustler Kid on RECESS.
CLAIRE ROBINSON: 18+ to play 17. A student in the journalism class. Prissy. A know-it-all.
BROCK LARSON: 18+ to play 18. The baseball captain. A pretty boy, but there's more under the surface.

SAG-AFTRA and non-union welcome to submit. Copy, credit, transportation, craft service provided.

Sad thing is, whenever I receive something like this from an unknown (to me) source, I assume it's spam.

  • Noël Ramos

I looked into that "Baltic Casting Agency" and it looks so incredibly bogus it's almost funny. It's based in Latvia yet has more opportunities for US actors than even our own local agencies??? Not bloody likely. It's just another flimsy ploy to extort $62 per year out of hopefuls.

    "How to start?

     1. Register to Baltic Casting Agency by clicking on JOIN US

( It costs only EUR 54.00 or 62.00USD  per year )"

  • Noël Ramos

Hi Minelva, have you joined my Verified Casting group yet? Another NEActor posted about Portland there and got some good feedback:
    https://www.facebook.com/groups/VerifiedCasting

  • Anabel Graetz

I have worked for them in the past; seem like good people.

  • Sonya Joyner

PMT is legit. Worked for them before. Have known Kendall for a while now. I'm sending in my paperwork as soon as I can get some more pics.
  • Lin Hult

Hey Minelva!  I worked a Perdue Harvestland Eat Like Your Ancestors commercial for Portland Model and Talent. Very professional & organized group. The gig was well paid for the time spent, great food and the talent (3 of us) had our own trailer for the day. I would definitely recommend them!

  • David W. Cook

Agreed. I signed on with PMT and had my first TV VO gig within a week. Krystal is very responsive

  • Noël Ramos

Folks, there are "comments" and there are "discussions." Posts that are a brand new topic, such as Zach's and Minelva's, would have been better as discussions, such as the ones Sarah and I have started.

That way your specific topic is kept separate, along with all its corresponding comments.

If you create a discussion, all replies will be attached to the original post, making it easier and more effective for us to follow along, participate and refer back to!

Simply click the +Add a Discussion link below the current ones.

Just a suggestion for improving our forum. :)

  • Kilbert Pierce Jr

I would like to introduce myself to the group. I am new to acting and very excited. Hoping to break through......somewhere....anywhere!

  • Christopher J Davis

It's that time again, head shots , a few months back I went to someone who is considered reputable and very good, sadly can't say the same of the finished product so suggestions and advise on finding the 'right fit' for me to look my best & presentable for casting.  Thanks all

  • Jessica Rainville

Christopher, have you tried Erica's Eye? I've heard amazing things about her!
  • Anne Turgeon

Hi Kilbert, Have you signed up with Boston Casting?  They seem to have a lot going on right now!

  • Jennifer Tyrrell

Hi all! I am looking for someone in Boston (I am in the Back Bay) that would be free sometime this week to work on lines with me? We can meet at a coffee shop somewhere and spend some time working on my upcoming projects, then also spend time on your upcoming projects? I have some friends who have read for me but I really do prefer to practice with other actors.... Jennifer@JenniferT.com - Please do message me!! Would love to possibly start a group that gets together once a week at my apartment to work on monologues etc.... just a thought :)

  • Jerri Higgins

    Thanks for this group!

  • Jerri Higgins

It was suggested that I shouldn't credit background work on my actor resume, but I feel like I get a lot out of those shoots.  I watch what principal actors are doing, paying attention to their process; I take direction seriously and do as the director asks.  We make note of our marks, often having to start back at 1.  I think extra work is valuable and should be on a resume.

Your thoughts on the subject are appreciated.

  • Bob Kuhn

Has anyone heard anything about an app called kaypr? They claim to be a new, free casting service.

  • Dianne Rothenberg

Hey Jerri Higgins-  I know industry people and they all say do NOT put BG work on your resume. Sure it is valuable when you are starting out, to watch and learn what to do and not do 'on set'. If you don't have anything else, it is more valuable to do a few student films. Hope this helps :)

  • Dianne Rothenberg

Fun seeing the new Foxwoods commercial I am in- I'm the one excited at the craps table  :)

  • Jeff Bellin

Jerri Higgins, any work is good on a resume if that's all you got. It did say that you've worked in front of the camera. But that's all. It doesn't say that you're good or desirable as an actor, or give a casting director an idea of what you might best be cast for. BG should quickly be shed from your resume.
  • Jeff Bellin

    And congrats, Dianne.
  • Noël Ramos

I list my BG work. It's valuable experience. I am working fairly steady, if that means anything.

  • Ian Dylan Hunt

Question, I recently did an audition and have the "Tape". The audition contains some strong language and racial slurs. Of course, It is a good audition tape I would like to post on the sites I am involved with. Any thoughts?

  • Lin Hult

Ian I think it's best to check with the individual site management. I believe that Brad who runs this site will not allow anything that is not G rated or would not be child friendly?  At least that was the last that I heard a few years ago when I joined.

Perhaps you could have the potentially offensive language beeped out?

  • Ian Dylan Hunt

Yeah, that's kind of what I was thinking. Maybe I'll just edit it........Thanks

    Aleena Rose

  • Patrick Naughter

    Hello!

I work in marketing for a small mortgage company in the Greater Boston Area. I'm looking to shoot three short, 10-20 second spots for the company and am looking for 3 actors for speaking roles, one per spot. Each shoot would be 1 hour max (likely shorter), single location. Compensation would be $100 & the media once completed for use in reel, etc. The spot would be a "customer" delivering a short, one or two sentence testimonial.

    Looking for:

Female, preferable non-white (Late 20's to early 30's)

Female, Spanish/English speaker (Anywhere from early 40's to mid 50's)

Male, any ethnicity (Late 50's to late 60's)

Feel free to email me at pfnaughter@gmail.com

    Thanks!

  • Patrick Naughter

    CASTING: PAID

Looking to cast for a series of short video spots for a finance company. The premise behind the spots is that a better mortgage makes for a better life, so each one is a very short scene taking place around the home. For the four spots I am currently seeking:

    1) Late 20’s to Early 30’s female

    2) The role is mother and kids
    Late 30’s to Early/Mid 40’s female
    Two kids, age 6-11

    3) The role is father and son
Late 30’s to Early 40’s male
    One kid, age 4-7

    4) Father and Son
Late 30’s to Early 40’s male
    One kid, age 6-10

The shoot is tentatively planned for July 27 & 28, shooting in Duxbury, MA. Would need to provide your own transportation. The spots will be roughly 20 seconds long, so each shoot would be no more than an hour. Can pay child talent $75 for the hour and adult talent $125.

Feel free to email me at pfnaughter@gmail.com
