This will be a 6-week workshop that takes students through the ins and outs of the art of improvisation. Learn how to build a secure platform to start scenes, how to develop clear and concise characters, and of course how to think quickly on your feet and react like a pro. The workshops starts on Monday, November 15th and will be held at the Firehouse Theater every Monday night from 6:30pm - 9:30pm with an optional performance at the end of the session for students. The cost is $150 a person.
The classes will be taught by Frank Fusaro. Frank has studied improv for 10 years. He has taken classes and been taught by some of the greatest instructors at Upright Citizen's Brigade in NYC, Second City in Chicago and Improv Boston to name a few. Frank has performed in improv festivals all over the country including the infamous Del Close Marathon. He is a founding member of Unexpected Company, RI's largest and most traveled long-form improv troupe. Frank is currently the Artistic Director of The Bit Players, voted "RI's Best Comedy Troupe" by Motif Magazine.
Improv is a very useful tool for actors. It not only helps them develop stronger characters and scenes but it is also a huge asset in cold-readings, taking direction, on-camera acting and commercial work. The session is open to all skill levels and no experience is necessary. Students must be at least 16 years old to enlist.
