Let us promote your talents...to be found!
I myself don't mind volunteering for student films or non profits needing a freebie, but I hear lots of people on opposite sides of the fence on this.I think it gives me a chance to tune my skills in a variety of different situations that I might not necessarily have a chance to do.Usually these jobs are a bit more open to an actors own take on the role and more likely to allow me to have more expressive freedom.I also get a lot of clips, pictures and experience that I can use to apply for other auditions.Anyone else care to chime in on this one?

Working for free is certainly something to do if you are creating a reel. Always keep in the back of your mind, "Is someone making money off this project?"
For me it's usually collage kids as I live close to Fitchburg State and they're always looking for volunteers or someone who's raised money on gofundme for their project. If it's a well known company then I would probably not volunteer.

Good question. Some folks, like students, simply can't pay, and it's not their fault. (It's a problem when those students fail to deliver on a copy of the finished product, so be careful.) But I'd say that if it's a project where others get paid -- writers, marketers, sound and light techs, anybody -- then the actors' work should be just as valued.
