This week it's off to Philadelphia to the
Franklin Institute to participate in their opening of
Galileo, the Medici and the Age of the Telescope. The Franklin and Fels Planetarium have managed to get Galileo's telescope for part of the International Year of Astronomy from the Institute and Museum of the History of Science in Florence.
I'll be giving my
program several times at the opening on Saturday and Sunday. I'll also be greeting the dignitaries at a special reception before the opening on Thursday.
I got to see the telescope in 2007 in Florence. This was a real coup for the Franklin and it should be quite an event to be part of for me.
